My uncle said
that when I grow older
I will be known as a man.
But I know that
this is not true.
I will actually be known
as a statistical point
in an opinion poll
a number on a
National Insurance card
a figure in the phone directory
and a fringe majority
in the general election.
Whether I have
learnt to count
or not.
