Do not delete

I have been told it’s worth forgetting
For the sanity of the nation,
That we should think of better things
For our own self-preservation.

But is it worth omission
From our daily conversation,
So it’s lost in the translation
And an alternative narration
From the top administration
Prevents any complication?
But for your information
There’s a dawning realisation
Of our leaders’ limitations.
There was horrid fascination
As we saw the desolation
Of the viral manifestation
In a global conflagration
by the mass contamination
Of every civilisation.
And we heard the accusations
Of the hurting generation
That endured the segregation,
Government procrastination
And the deadly hesitation,
And the media manipulation,
The bland interrogation,
And the truth assassination.

Horrific fascination
Was the only punctuation
Through our forced isolation
With no hope of vaccination
Or pandemic termination.
We heard endless proclamations
That brought wholesale confusion
And hopeless desperation
And the dire exasperation
Of a fearful generation.
We saw betrayal of our nation
By the lies and humiliation
Of political manipulation
With no fear of litigation
Though the cries for resignation
Led to bureaucratic violation
And power preservation.

WFH

In my the living room
I've made a space for Zoom
And various paraphernalia
I'll be regularly Skyping,
And email typing
And a dozen other ways to hail ya

We'll keep in touch
For work and such-like
Ways to earn a few quid
But please don't rely
On an immediate reply
'Cos I'm working from home with three kids
